Silver bromide copy print, in very large format 370 x 300 mm; in very good condition, with photographic studio s re-touching highlighting the brigade s initials on the uniforms; in the original gilded frame, 590 x 480 mm. The SVFB was formed in 1855, but it became known as the Bendigo Fire Brigade in 1891, which means that the original photograph must therefore have been taken in that year or slightly earlier. However, we believe this print was made and framed around 1928 (date ascertained from newspaper waste on the back of the frame).
