Italian composer (1795-1870) mostly of operas, Mercadante was very famous in his time and was important in the development of opera. 1-page autograph letter in Italian signed by him in Turin, 1843, where he mentions the writing of a new opera called Il Reggente and mentions his previous work Il Giuramento , attached to a small portrait of him over the upper-right corner. ALSO INCLUDED are handwritten transcription and translation.
