Albumen print photograph, cabinet card format, 165 x 110 mm (mount); recto of mount with imprint of West End Portrait Parlors, 112 114 Victoria Street, West Melbourne. James Hooper, Proprietor. ; a strong print in good condition (some surface scratches in the bottom right corner); the mount is a little darkened from handling. This colonial regimental uniform featured a blue pillbox hat with red band, red jacket with blue cuffs, blue trousers with a red stripe, and buff belts. The hat badge bore the regiment s motto Aut pace aut bello ( In peace and war ).
