Albumen print photograph, 150 x 210 mm, laid down on its original mount of thick card, imprinted in the lower margin John Kimberley Co., Photographers / Firebrace Street, Horsham ; the print is a little yellowed and has a short crease at upper right edge; the mount has some small stains and is darkened around the edges. Quite possibly a unique image. However, the precise location of this Bendigo Pottery depot is not clear. It has been suggested to us that this depot was not in Horsham, but it could very well be one that was in Melbourne (possibly South Melbourne). On 26 May 1891, the Horsham firm of John Kimberley Co. announced in The Horsham Times the recruitment of professional photographer Mr. Discaciati, a talented artist, late with Tuttle Co. , with the accompanying claim that they were now prepared to do all kinds of photographic work, in a style not to be surpassed in the Wimmera district. Kimberley Co. continued to advertise its photographic services in the local newspaper up until 1893. J. L. Discaciati (1869-1944) would later set up his own studio at Warracknabeal.
