Albumen print photograph, 280 x 230 mm, laid down on its original album leaf of thin card, with a fully contemporary pencilled caption in French beneath the image: Splitters fall (partie du milieu) haute 200 pieds ; a strong print with good tonal range, slight yellowing at edges; in very good condition (tiny amount of loss at bottom right corner, probably pre-dating the mounting). The State Library of Victoria holds another copy of this view (PCLTAF ; 302 P.16; in identical format, titled Foot of Splitter s Falls ), which it dates to 1879-1881. Note: another waterfall known as Splitter s Falls is located near Hall s Gap, Western Victoria.
