Programme for the 1923 Paris season of impresario Nikita Balieff s touring theatre revue La Chauve-Souris (The Bat). Founded in Moscow in 1907, and based in Paris from 1917, Balieff s troupe toured Europe, the United States and South Africa during the 1920s and early 1930s, achieving great popular and critical success. Its cabaret-style performances consisted of songs, dances, and sketches, most of which had been originally performed in Russia.
