Oblong folio, original half black morocco with patterned green papered limp boards, gilt lettering (some staining to front and rear boards; rear board with small section of surface loss; spine frayed at tail), with [18] hand coloured steel engraved maps of the different regions of the world (the final map is of Australia and the Pacific), printed recto of each leaf (preliminaries foxed; mild water stain to upper edges of leaves; some mild, scattered foxing). Text in German. A single copy of this first edition recorded in Australian collections (State Library of New South Wales).
