This collection of reports on the Discovery Expedition also includes pieces by Scott other four members of his team. Hartley Travers Ferrar's article discusses the physical geography of the Antarctic.In the Antarctic, Ferrar (1879-1932) assisted with scientific studies, such as measuring sea-water salinity, and undertook exploratory sledging trips. He discovered the first fossils on the known Antarctic mainland and the Beacon Superground sandstone geological formation, and he gave his name to the Ferrar Glacier.Charles Thomson Rees Wilson (1869-1959) served with Ferrar on the Antarctic Meteorological Observations Committee, which was established by the Royal Society to co-ordinate the publication of the expedition's relevant findings. He received the Nobel Prize in 1927 and the Copley Medal in 1935.
