First edition, presentation copy, with a contemporary ink inscription signed "d[er] Verf[asser]" ("from the author") to the head of the front wrapper.This lecture was delivered by the Hungarian-German physicist (1862-1947) on his receipt of the 1905 Nobel Prize in Physics for work on cathode rays, work later used by Einstein to provide his theoretical explanation of the photoelectric effect. Lenard never forgave Einstein for superseding his work on the photoelectric effect, and after being made Chief of Aryan Physics under the Nazis, he systematically denounced Einsteinian physics as "Jewish science".
