It was published on the verge of the Meiji Restoration and the opening of Japan, as politicians and the public alike were seeking deeper knowledge of their future business and trading partners.The maps detail the population growth, military size, annual governmental revenue, tax revenue, national debt, railway coverage, and religious makeup of the major European powers. It closes with a territorial map of Germany in the aftermath of the 1866 Austro-Prussian War.These maps were issued as an appendix to Seiyo: Kakkoku seisui kyojaku ichiran hyo.
