First edition of Hedin's extensively illustrated report on his 1905-6 journey across eastern Persia and Balochistan, undertaken as a surreptitious prelude to his multi-year expedition through Tibet. Hedin travelled overland to India, where he met the Indian railway and crossed the Tibetan border without British permission.The volumes were issued with a separate map folder, which is not present here.
