Souvenir Guide Map. Distributed Free with the Compliments of Groppi. A tourist handout issued by the favourite Cairo hangout of Lawrence of Arabia, known for its tea and coffee, jazz, and garden. Groppi's was founded by Giacomo Groppi (1863-1947), a Swiss restauranteur who came to Cairo in 1884. Its rotunda, trumpeted on the map as "one of the finest ball rooms in the Near East", opened in 1925.
