The Behavior of Organisms. First edition of this foundational work of radical behaviourism. "Skinner's book was notable for its demonstrations of orderly functional relations between behaviour and environment as well as for its rejection of speculation about both the physiological mechanisms of behaviour and its possible mental causes. In effect, the book established the behaviour of intact organisms as a lawful scientific domain in its own right, and it became the model of later research in the Skinnerian tradition" (ANB).This copy is one of 500 bound in the first issue cloth and with the Appleton "(1)" on the last page. A further 300 copies were bound in light green cloth and issued in the mid-1940s.
