American actor and tenor (1920-2014) whose full name was Earl William Sauvain, appeared in many broadway productions, was cast in the original production of Richard Rodger's Annie Get Your Gun, appeared with Nelson Eddy in the first color-TV musical The Desert Song and also appeared with the Goldovsky Opera Co. and was a member of the New York City Opera.
