German-born conductor (1876-1962), pianist, and composer, who worked closely with Mahler, whose music he helped to establish in the repertory, and is widely considered to be one of the greatest conductors of the 20th century. Typed letter in French signed by him with the letterhead of the hotel, dated in Zurich, 1931, addressed to a fan requesting a photograph. Size is 8.6 x 11 inches, 1 page, folds, minor cracks, otherwise in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a short note written in French signed by the conductor, dated in Lugano, 1939. Size is 5.8 x 3.9 inches, in excellent condition. SOLD TOGETHER, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.
