Star American jazz singer (1917-1996), noted for her purity of tone, impeccable diction, phrasing, timing, intonation, and a "horn-like" improvisational ability, particularly in her scat singing. Fantastic sepia promo photograph by Warner Bros signed by her with a short sentiment, and also signed by members of her band, including Jim Hall (guitarist), Paul Smith (pianist), Gus Johnson (drummer), and Wilfred Middlebrooks (double-bassist). Size is 7.9 x 10.1 inches, pinholes in all four corners, ink-stamped and ink-marked on verso by previous ownership, otherwise in excellent condition.
