Alessio De Paolis studied in Rome, making his début in 1919 at Bologna as the Duke Rigoletto . In 1921 he sang Fenton Falstaff at La Scala, and for a decade continued to appear as a lyric tenor throughout Italy. In 1933 he turned to character roles. He made his New York début
