From the studio of W. Höffert in Dresden, with decorative studio imprint to lower margin and studio details printed to verso. 166 x 109 mm. Slightly worn and browned. A student of Julius Stockhausen, Scheidemantel was one of Germany's leading baritones. After early years in Weimar, he spent most of his singing career, from 1886 to 1911, at the Dresden Hofoper, with guest appearances in many places including Covent Garden from 1884 .
