American soprano (1912-2009), who created the role of "Bess" in the original production of George Gershwin 's opera Porgy and Bess in 1935, also appeared in Broadway musicals and as a radio and concert singer. Signed photograph, shown as herself. Stamped on verso by photographer Castello. Size is 4.5 x 7 inches, some bends, otherwise in very good condition.
