Signed and inscribed to Paul Read [sic] by Plischke on FFEP. Ernst A. Plischke was an Austrian-New Zealand modernist architect and furniture designer. He was a key figure in promoting the Modernist movement in Wellington following WWII. In this volume, he shows a range of his works, documenting his thoughts and ideas alongside imagery. Also contains a handwritten sheet of notes about some of Plischke's works, and an article in German about Plischke loosely inserted. First Edition. Wien/München: (Kurt Wedl, 1969). Large, square 8vo. Original white publisher's cloth in original unclipped dust jacket. Pages: 199. Overall condition: excellent. Dust jacket unclipped, small tear at upper front edge of dust jacket, with some rubbing to creases. Very mild spotting to cloth. Endpapers and prelims show very mild foxing. Otherwise, contents fine, clean and bright. A wonderful copy. Provenance: From the library of Paul Wendy Reid. Paul Reid is hailed as one of the minds who helped to shape Canberra. As Chief Architect at the NCDC, Paul's most important role was the organisation and construction of the New Parliament House. He also had a sizeable involvement with all of the major works associated with Canberra. His legacy remains celebrated in various forms at multiple universities within Australia.
