Bishop Burnet's History of His Own Time. First edition. One of the most important accounts of the period, the first edition sold well in England; Doctor Johnson considered it "very entertaining". Burnet was a Scottish philosopher, historian, and Bishop of Salisbury. The volumes cover the period from the English Civil War until the Treaty of Utrecht.
