The composer is depicted full-length standing in a relaxed pose, his right arm on a table, his left behind his back, and his legs crossed. Various books and musical scores of Tännhauser, Lohengrin, etc. lie on the table and floor, with a bust of Gluck and painting or print of Beethoven in the background.
