Manshu no tenbo ("A View of Manchuria"). Later edition, following the first of 1932, of this guide to Manchuria richly illustrated with hundreds of half-tone photographic illustrations. It was published only two years after the founding of the puppet state of Manchukuo as part of a drive to boost tourism in the area.Following the annexation of Manchuria, the Japanese government tried to encourage their citizens to relocate to the region by producing tourist leaflets, guides, and brochures. The South Manchurian Railway Company took on the brunt of the work and cities like Dalian and Fengtian (now Shenyang) became well-known and popular.
