Ebers was a German Eygptologist who lends his name to the Ebers Papyrus, one of the world's oldest medical documents. The work is richly illustrated throughout with wood engravings, including by prominent contemporary artists such as Lawrence Alma Tadema.Originally published as Aegypten in Bild und Wort (1878-79), the work first appeared in English in 1878.
