English-Arabic Vocabulary for the Use of Officials in the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan. First edition. The author (1877-1915) commissioned into the Black Watch in 1897 and served in the Sudan Campaign. Fluent in Arabic and Persian, he was seconded to the Egyptian Army from 1901 to 1911 and earned promotion to captain in 1902.
