Ernestine Carter, née Fantl (1906–1983), was an American museum curator, journalist, and fashion writer. The pair likely met while Fantl was working as a curator at the Museum of Modern Art, to which Levy lent items for exhibition.Levy (1906-1981) was an influential art dealer and champion of the Surrealist movement through its formative years in New York. His gallery exhibited over 115 artists, including Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, and Frida Kahlo.The first edition had a limited print run of 1500 copies.
