Catalogue of Roman Catholic Relics. A mock-catalogue of relics to be sold at St. Peter's in Rome, the longest and most shocking of Phillipps's anti-Catholic pamphlets. This is one of about 65 anti-Catholic pamphlets that Phillipps produced. "Sir Thomas's terrible hatred of Roman Catholicism stemmed firstly from his fear of Popish control of the affairs of the country, leading on to what became a mania in the last twenty years of his life. It lead him to the support of Protestant meetings, and to the printing of Protestant and anti-Catholic leaflets... They were offered for distribution at Protestant meetings held in neighbouring towns" (Chambers, p. 177).The auction is set for "Monday the 25th of April 1998 (if not sold 1866)". The catalogue describes the articles, their condition, and provenance.
