Kino. First paperback edition, from the library of renowned translator Michael Glenny, with his ownership inscription on the front free endpaper. Glenny has made a few annotations to the chapter on the director Sergei Eisenstein, a pioneer in the use of montage in his films, and as a theorist of Soviet montage. Glenny was called "the most outstanding Russian translator of his generation" (The Times), best known for his influential translation of The Master and Margarita. From 1975-77 Glenny worked on translations of Sergei Eisenstein's writing on film theory, likely using this volume as a resource.
