Lost Magic Kingdoms and Six Paper Moons from Nahuatl, an Exhibition at the Museum of Mankind. First edition, inscribed by the author on the front endpaper, "For John Jones, Eduardo Paolozzi, Leeds 1985." Jones was the head of the fine arts department at Leeds University. This catalogue was produced in conjunction with the British Museum, showing pieces from their collections alongside artworks by Paolozzi to explore the connection between primitive and modern art.In his introduction, the Leith born artist reflects on the museum that sparked his interest in collections. "What I remember best about the Royal Scottish Museum, which had magnificent material, was that if you went there with a class you took a drawing board and you were actually asked to draw in the room with the stuffed animals." Also included are essays by Malcolm McLeod, Dawn Ades, and Christopher Frayling.
