Some Afrikaners Revisited. Limited edition, number 211 of 300 copies signed by the photographer. Goldblatt captures domestic and pastoral scenes, portraits of farm hands and shopkeepers painting an eerily calm picture of a country in the throes of great change. The photos are mostly from the mid-1960s, during which time the Afrikaner National Party were progressing their policy of "grand apartheid". This volume reproduces Goldblatt's original introduction in which he writes of his subjects, "there was narrowness and there was floridity and lustiness; there was confidence and a sense of belonging, of knowing exactly who one is and where one stands in the world; there was a tenacious conviction of rightness, of absolute unarguable rightness; there was an almost visceral bond with the soil and the bush".This book re-collects Goldblatt's work, first published in 1975 as Some Afrikaners Photographed. This edition adds 20 images not included in Some Afrikaners Photographed, as well as as an additional essay by Ivor Powell, and a response by Antje Krog.
