Dubai Creek. Attractive views of Dubai Creek in the 1980s, showing some of the most famous landmarks in Dubai at a time of rapid urban expansion. The first photograph, taken from the dock at Deira, shows the minaret of the renowned Grand Mosque, on the left-hand side; on its right stands the minaret of the Ali Ibn Abi Talib Mosque, built in 1979. Both are near the Suq of Bur Dubai, visible from the distance, among the dhows. The second photograph, taken from a dhow with an Emirati flag, shows recently built tower blocks along Dubai Creek, as well as two under construction on the right.
