BAILEY, David.

£250 · Offered by Peter Harrington

Locations. First edition, boldly inscribed by the photographer on the front free endpaper, in pencil, "To Peter and Pauline, Love DB, 2012". This book collects his photography from the 1970s.In his introduction, Martin Harrison writes that the seventies were a time of reinvention for Bailey, in which he moved towards a more political vernacular. The decade was bookended by photo-journalistic trips to Turkey and Vietnam, both of which feature in this collection. 1971 also saw the exhibit "Snap!" at the National Portrait Gallery, alongside Gerald Scarfe and David Hockney, which was the first occasion on which contemporary photographs had been exhibited in a British national museum.
