City of Illusions. First edition, inscribed by the author on the title page, "For Don, from Ursula". The recipient was Don Glover, the publications director of the Norwest Science Fiction Society and a significant figure in the Seattle science fiction scene. Of the many novels in Le Guin's science-fiction Hainish cycle, City of Illusions is the only one set on Earth, seen thousands of years in the future following its takeover by a hostile alien force, with the residual humanity dispersed across several post-technological enclaves. City of Illusions was Le Guin's first novel issued as an independent paperback; her earlier novels were published dos-à-dos. It was not issued in hardcover until 1975.The cover illustration is by the multiple Hugo Award-winning illustrator Jack Gaughan.
