Seamus"; also inscribed underneath by the poet Peter Fallon, "and Peter, with love, 4 January 1986." The recipients were Paul and Ulla Sullivan, long-term friends of both men, Paul being a patron of Heaney.Heaney wrote From the Republic of Conscience at the request of Mary Lawlor of Amnesty International Ireland to mark International Human Rights Day 1985. This copy was acquired directly from Paul Sullivan's estate.
