The Haw Lantern. First American edition, inscribed by the author on the first blank, "Seamus Heaney for Paul Sullivan, Slainte! May Day, 1988". The recipient was close friend Paul Sullivan, a Massachusetts stockbroker and a patron of Heaney. Sullivan hosted the poet for dinner twice a week while Heaney was lecturing at Harvard in the 1980s and '90s. This copy was acquired directly from Sullivan's estate.
