Two half-yearly numbers of this journal of interior design, strongly influenced by the Vienna Secession.Das Interieur, published from 1900 to 1915, "represented interiors of a diverse kind: shops, offices, cafes and restaurants, as well as the domestic. The magazine featured photographic profiles of actual interiors and designs by leading modern architects and designers, among them the secessionists... It was in this Viennese publication, more than any other, that striking parallels between design for the page and design for the room became apparent. The magazine was filled with stylized natural motifs on the page, which are echoes of the surface pattern on walls, furniture, textiles and ceramics to be found in the actual interiors. This heightened awareness of the place of ornament ran throughout Viennese design at the time" (Aynsley, p. 49).
