[Die vier Jahreszeiten.] First edition of this Jugendstil woodcut book depicting the four seasons, published the year Krenek completed his studies at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vienna. The edition size is commonly cited as 50 copies.The Viennese artist Karl Krenek (1880-1948) trained at the Kunstgewerbeschule under Czeschka, Moser, and Roller. He self-published this work in the same year his colour-woodcut book Kleine Szenen was commercially published. A member of the Austrian Werkbund and Künstlerbund, he exhibited with the Vienna Secession in 1912 and designed postcards and textiles for the Wiener Werkstätte.
