The Philosophy of Karl Popper, edited by Paul Arthur Schilpp. First edition of this critical edition of Popper's thought, including the first publications of both his Autobiography and his Reply to My Critics, comprising 416 pages in total. These volumes also contain 33 critical essays by such thinkers as Quine, Putnam, Bronowski, Ayer, and Kuhn. Although not marked as such, this copy is from the library of Popper's great friend, the philosophical broadcaster Bryan Magee (1930-2019), who is thanked by Popper in the acknowledgements. Magee would later suggest the title for the first standalone publication of Popper's autobiography, the Unended Quest of 1976.
