First Rackham Trade edition; 4to (25.5 x 21 cm); 12 colour plates by Arthur Rackham, captioned tissue guards, 17 uncoloured plates (as published) and 11 vignettes within the text, minor abrasion to p.56 and plate opposite, not affecting text, one or two ink marks to margins, else very good; publisher's dark blue cloth decorated in blind, titled in gilt, macabre skeletal decorated endpapers, a variant binding with the same design that appears on the publisher's deluxe vellum edition, only in blind rather than gilt, general light signs of wear to extremities, some rippling to upper board, else very good; 317pp.
