As Ghani says, 'his powers of observation and analysis were extraordinary; no detail ever escaped him. His book can still be used as a topographical guide for travel in Iran.' Curzon also wrote many articles for the Times and other newspaper. He was highly regarded and became the country's most knowledgeable politician on Asiatic affairs. Both volumes contain the signature of D.L.R. Lorimer who was Lieutenant-Colonel David Lockhart Robertson CIE (1876-1962), a member of the British Indian Army, a political agent in the British Indian government and notable linguist.
