Broadsides. First edition, one of 100 bound sets signed by the editors W. B. Yeats and F. R. Higgens at the end of the introduction, as issued. It collects 12 broadsides which were published monthly throughout 1935 in runs of 300 copies each.Broadsides exemplify the Celtic Revival ideals of the Cuala Press and pay tribute to the press's initial series of 84 broadsides, issued between 1908 and 1915. Included are traditional ballads alongside new verse by contemporary Irish poets such as Yeats, James Stephens, and Bryan Guinness. The songs are set to music by Arthur Duff, and the woodcut illustrations recall the decorated "slip ballads" traditionally printed on broadsides.
