Notes on Chinese Literature: First edition of this early bibliographical study, covering over two millennia from the Confucian classics of ancient China to the imperially sponsored anthologies of the 18th century.Wylie's (1815-1887) impressive collection of Western and Chinese books became the basis of the library attached to the North China Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society in Shanghai. It also served as the foundation for Henri Cordier's monumental Bibliotheca Sinica.
