Poems. First edition, presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front blank, "To Jean Michael from Frances Cornford, May 1910". Accompanying the book is a photograph of Frances Cornford, her father Francis Darwin, and her future husband Francis Cornford. The picture was taken at the seaside and has been annotated with their names.A subsequent gift inscription notes the book was later "given to Janet[?] by Jean, Christmas 1936". This is the first poetry collection by Charles Darwin's granddaughter, Frances Cornford (1886-1960). It includes her poems "Youth", later titled "On Rupert Brooke", as well as the notorious "To a Fat Lady Seen from a Train". This copy is the large paper issue and is printed on handmade paper.
