This is a well preserved copy of an uncommon work.In this vision of a world without cities and states, in which Taut reworked ideas published in his Alpine Architektur (1919), is illustrated with his own artwork along with quotes and contributions from Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Peter Kropotkin, Franz Oppenheimer, Nietzsche, Engels, Lenin, Gustav Landauer, and Walt Whitman's "Pioneers! O Pioneers!". In the author's own words, "of course it is only a utopia and a little conversation, albeit with evidence,... or a ('somewhat premature') paraphrase on the third millennium" (translated from the title page).The renowned German architect and urban planner Bruno Taut (1880-1938), active during the Weimar period, became a committed follower of the Garden City movement, which inspired his design for the Berlin housing estate Gartenstadt Falkenberg (nicknamed the "Paint Box Estates" due to Taut's commitment to lively, clashing colours). He worked for the city architect of Berlin, Martin Wagner, on some of Berlin's Modernist Housing Estates, featuring controversial modern flat roofs, access to sunlight, air, and gardens.
