Lithographic ink swatch book issued by Wah-Foong Co., Shanghai. A rare example of a Republican-era printer's sampler, offering clients a wide range of German lithographic inks to print half-tones and text. Founded in 1915, Wah-Foong operated out of the British Concession and had a production plant and a Nanjing branch. In 1927, it moved the plant to 100 Lincoln Road, Shanghai, the address given on the front cover of this example. After the 1949 revolution, the plant was absorbed into the state-run printing system as Shanghai Number One Matrix Plant.
