First edition of this account of China's "Second Revolution" of 1913, an uprising by Sun Yat-sen's republican alliance against Yuan Shikai's ersatz imperial administration.The author, an Austrian journalist, was the war reporter for the Ostasiatische Lloyd, the oldest German-language newspaper in China. He covered events at the side of Admiral Tseng Yu-Cheng, who was tasked by Yuan with subduing the rebellion.Rodyenko published this book under the pseudonym Esperu. His English-language description of events appeared the following year as The Second Revolution in China, 1913.
