Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. First edition, first impression, signed by the author on the front free endpaper. Chamber of Secrets was published on 2 July 1998, following the Philosopher's Stone by a year. Sources suggest that an initial print run of 10,150 copies was released to an expectant British public, far in excess of the figure of 706 copies reported by the publisher and printer. Harry Potter was as yet unpublished in America, and a dispute arose when Amazon fulfilled orders for American customers by shipping them British copies.
