The Book of Common Prayer A pretty pocket devotional in an accomplished arts and crafts-style embroidered binding. During the later 19th century, such bookbindings enjoyed a revival among professional and amateur craftswomen. The cream silk satin ground, floral sprays worked in coloured silks, gilt thread borders, and metal spangles consciously recall Tudor and early Stuart precedents.
