Full contemporary crimson straight grain morocco, elaborately gilt extra, spine decorated with bee and predator bird devices, boards stamped with gilt crest device including Papal cross and a coat of arms , gilt inner dentelles, a.e.g.. Two bookplates on front pastedown, scattered foxing, early ink memoranda on recto of rear free endsheet, early repair to what appears to have been a surface snag to lower board;
