Indonesia. Before 1970s . Stock ID #216726 Water buffalo hide and pigment, chiselled and cut out, 17 x 22 figure only , affixed to a bamboo baton, worn with noticeable loss of pigment. This puppet represents the animal character of Kate Kancana or golden rooster, a form assumed by Prince Arjuna in the Javanese Wayang Kulit tradition. Purchased in Indonesia in the early 1970s.
